Sergey Mikhaylovich Prokudin-Gorsky (1863–1944) was a Russian chemist and photographer.
He is best known for his pioneering work in color photography of early 20th-century Russia.
In 1909 a remarkable project was initiated. His mission was to record, in full and vibrant color, the vast and diverse Russian Empire.
